It’s been just over a week since we arrived home from Dublin after attending the 2019 ILCU Exhibition. This was our first time attending the event and we have taken the time to reflect on how the event went for us. We were thoroughly impressed with the event and thought it was a well organised and interesting exhibition that we took a lot away from to discuss with our team back home.
We were also lucky enough to be an exhibitor for the weekend too. We met lots of new credit unions and spoke to their staff and volunteers. We talked to them about the challenges they are facing and how they are overcoming them. One of the things that struck us was that credit unions in Ireland are much further along in their technology journey than many in the UK. Technology is at the front of their minds and most are already using it but for those that are not, it's in their immediate plans to do. We had some great conversations about what we could do to help, and it gave us a much better insight into the market.
A key theme that we took away with us was collaboration. We heard about this from credit unions but also from other businesses that we met at the event. Many of the other technology companies in attendance discussed potential collaboration opportunities with us and it was great to see that they are willing to work together to give the credit union market what it needs.
Overall, we felt like we got a lot out of attending ILCU and it was a great way for us to take our first step into the Irish market. With lots of new contacts and opportunities gained, we think that attending ILCU is a great choice for any business like ours who is looking to expand into the credit union market in Ireland. We are looking forward to attending again!
